Double dose of laughs at the Róisín Dubh

MAEVE HIGGINS and Jarlath Regan, two of Ireland’s most popular comedians, are coming back to Galway to play the Róisín Dubh.

Jarlath Regan will play the Dominick Street venue on Wednesday at 8.30pm. His alternative brand of new age Irish comedy has shades of Dylan Moran and Dave Allen, but is nonetheless original and sure to have you holding your sides. With his sweetly crafted jokes and charming delivery, he will “steal the keys to your heart and take your funny bone for a joy ride”.

“Side-splitting stuff...causes near hysteria in the room,” said The Metro; “The best young talent in Dublin,” said Hot Press; and “He has a skilful way with words and a playful misplaced logic,” declared Chortle.

Support is from Gearoid Farrelly and Karl Spain. Monty will be DJing afterwards.

On Saturday February 19 at 8.30pm, Maeve Higgins will present her new show, Ready For This? There are scant details as yet on what the show involves, but we have been assured that it will be a night of fun with brilliant comedy, a special guest, a couple of baking tips, and maybe even some signature cat material!

The Irish Times has called the Corkonian “rarer than a blessing of unicorns...she is original and relatively calm, her observations are pithy, her wit delicate, her persona oddly alluring and deftly honest.”

Graham Dolan will be DJing afterwards.

Tickets are available from the Róisín Dubh and Zhivago.
