Marc O’Reilly to launch new album in Róisín Dubh

IRISH FOLK-blues singer songwriter Marc O’Reilly has just released his debut album My Friend Marx. It will be launched in the Róisín Dubh nexy weekend.

Marc will launch the album with a show in the upstairs bar of the Róisín on Saturday February 19 at 9pm.

Marc’s roots lie in Waterford and France, but his sound rests somewhere between folk blues, Fleetwood Mac’s Peter Green, Gomez, and singer-songwriter Ray LaMontagne.

Following stints in different alt.rock bands, Marc began to make his mark in 2010 as a solo performer, playing at last summer’s Electric Picnic festival and supporting David Kitt.

The turbulence of the last few years in both the songwriter’s life and globally is reflected in Marc’s lyrics as he moves from social commentary (‘Narrow Street’ ), the Middle East conflict (‘Lord of War’, ) and failed relationships (F.O.O. ), a humorous look at family life (‘Family Reunion’ ), old fashioned storytelling (‘Tell Old Joe’ ), and spirituality (‘Hail’ ).

Admission is free. The first single and title track from My Friend Marx can be downloaded at Sound Cloud - http://snd.sc/f2INzc
