Coole Music pupils to sing on national stage

THE COOLE Music School in Gort, will reach a new milestone this Saturday when its youth orchestra makes its debut at the National Concert Hall in Dublin.

The orchestra, under the baton of Katharina Baker, will be performing as part of the 16th Festival of Youth Orchestras.

The concert is an exciting endeavour for the 47 young musicians who have been working hard to prepare for this event. Their performance will include music from The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Adventure Suite, which was especially composed for the orchestra by Katharina Baker.

On the same day The Coole Kidz Choir, conducted by Noreen McDermott, will perform at the Peace Proms Event with the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland in Leisureland, Galway.

The choir will join up with 500 singers for the Peace Proms, which is part of a series of nationwide concerts by the renowned Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland, giving young people the opportunity to perform with a full symphony orchestra.

Coole Music is run as a non-profit community organisation governed by a voluntary parents' committee. The name Coole Music is inspired by the beautiful nearby Coole Park, once the home of Lady Augusta Gregory.
