Two Galway businessmen had good cause for celebration last week when the SUBWAY® stores that they respectively own in Tuam and Loughrea were rated among the top 10 SUBWAY® stores in Ireland for cleanliness and customer service.
Seamus Hynes, who owns the SUBWAY® store at Bishop Street in Tuam, and Chris Talbot who owns another store in Loughrea, and their staff came very close to seeing their respective stores named as the winner of the SUBWAY® chain’s coveted Store of the Year 2010 award having scored highly in a series of monthly inspections.
Their commitment to providing exemplary customer service throughout the year was recognised when Mr Hynes’ store ranked fifth and Mr Talbot’s store ranked tenth among the ten best SUBWAY® stores, having competed against 184 other SUBWAY® stores in Ireland during 2010.
All 186 SUBWAY® stores were inspected on a random basis each month and awarded scores for cleanliness, customer service and overall operational performance as part of the SUBWAY® chain in Ireland.
The stores were also visited each month by a ‘mystery shopper’ who secretly evaluated the performance of staff working at each store from a customer’s perspective as well as the quality and presentation of the food that they were served.
The Galway successes was also praised by Paul Heyes, Development Agent for the SUBWAY® chain in Ireland when the results for the ‘Store of the Year 2010’ were announced in Belfast this week.
“Seamus and Chris and their staff at their stores deserve tremendous applause for ensuring that two Galway stores achieved a top ten store ranking. It takes consistent attention to detail and an unstinting commitment to customer service to make it into the top ten in the SUBWAY® chain’s annual ‘Store of the Year Awards’. This result is great news for our customers in Galway.” he said.
