Man to face trial for false imprisonment of woman

A 28-year-old man accused of allegedly tresspassing in a building and falsely imprisoning a woman has been sent forward for trial.

The Galway District Court heard this week that the book of evidence has been served on Guozhu Zhuang (28 ) with an address at New Oriental, Cahir, Tipperary.

The accused man faces charges of entering a building, 8 Grealishtown, Bohermore, Galway, to commit theft and falsly imprisoning a woman at the same location on October 10, 2009.

Garda Fergus Gaughan gave evidence of serving the book of evidence on the accused man on the morning of the court sitting. Inspector Mick Coppinger then informed the court that the director of public prosecutions had consented to the accused being returned for trial at the next sitting of Galway Circuit Criminal Court commencing February 22 next.
