Glynn’s Mervue squad takes shape

Former Galway United star Jason Molloy will return to his former club Mervue United for the coming season.

Mervue manager Johnny Glynn has confirmed that the striker has signed for the club, having played for Galway Utd for the last three seasons.

Striker Rory Gaffney has re-signed for another season despite interest from a host of clubs, while defenders Damien O’Rourke and David O’Brien also have re-joined.

Amother new recruit is Peter Dravins has has signed from Castlebar Celtic, while Darren Kelly has been signed from local junior club Dynamo Blues.

Glynn squad has taken shape over the last couple of weeks, with all of last year’s squad staying put, except Enda Curran who is joining Galway United.

Eric Browne, Martin Conneely, Dan Cunningham, Kevin Crehan, Mike Tierney, Mark Ludden, Alex Lee and David Goldbey all played in Friday night’s 1-0 friendly win over city rivals Salthill Devon. Youngsters James Casserely, TJ Forde and Barry McEntee, who scored the only goal of the game, also featured.

There was further good news for the club when goalkeeper and player of the year in 2009, Eoin Martin, played his first game following his return from injury. Martin had missed the whole of last season after breaking his arm in the final game of the 2009 season against Wexford Youths.
