An evening of Moliere at Nuns Island

MOLIERE IS regarded as one of the greatest writers of comedy to have ever lived and next week Galway will be able to enjoy one act plays by the French master.

Galway Community College PLC theatre performance course students will stage An evening of Moliere, featuring Sgarenelle, Two Precious Maidens, and The Forced Marriage in the Nuns Island Theatre on Wednesday February 9 and Thursday 10.

Moliere (1622-73 ) was famous and controversial for his farcical and satirical plays. In Sgarenelle we see displays of misconception and dramatic irony. Two Precious Maidens sees two over-indulged maidens, longing for the high life of Paris, duped by two unassuming servants, but who in the end gets the last laugh? In The Forced Marriage an older gentlemen rethinks his enthusiasm for marriage when he finds his young bride to be is not all that she seems.

An evening of Moliere is directed by Lorraine O’Hara.

An evening of outrageous misunderstandings and hilarious consequences is assured. Tickets are €10. For more information and bookings contact the Galway Community College on 091 - 755464.
