THE GO! Team and Cut Copy will play the Heineken Green Spheres event in Galway next month and tickets to the events are free but you need to get them soon.
The Go! Team will play The Black Box Theatre on Thursday March 3 and on the night they will play music from their excellent new album Rolling Blackouts, which features hip hop/soul/funk mash ups, blaxploitation styled instrumental workouts, and old skool indie pop.
The band first came to attention in 2004 with their acclaimed debut, Thunder, Lightning, Strike, and followed this up in 2007 with Proof of Youth. The band was formed by producer/multi-instrumentalist Ian Parton and features the fiery Ninja on lead vocals and MC duties.
Cut Copy play The Radisson Live Lounge on Friday March 4. The Australian band - Dan Whitford, Tim Hoey, Mitchell Scott, and Ben Browning - will release their new album, Zonoscope on February 11.
Dan Whitford describes the album thus: “All the way along we had this weird vision of a tropical, jungle, tribal sound. A place or an idea that we wanted to reach with some of the songwriting; to explore a looping hypnotic trance and revise the whole palette of what Cut Copy was about.
“We used all sorts of strange bongos, rototoms, congas, 10 kinds of shaker, 15 different cowbells; anything and everything. Even wine bottles filled with different amounts of water.”
Zonoscope explores a variety of styles, including Chicago house, Krautrock, disco, and ambient.
Tickets are free but must be applied for at HeinekenMusic.ie Early booking is advised.
