Man charged with possession of replica firearm and knuckle duster with intent

A Dublin man has been charged with allegedly being in possession of a bag, which contained a replica/imitation firearm, knuckle duster, and a balaclava, with intent to cause injury at a Galway city location last summer.

The Galway District Court heard on Monday how David Hickey (35 ) with an address at 1D Pearse House, Dublin 2, faces two counts of possessing an article with intent to cause injury at Mervue on July 11, 2010.

Inspector Brendan Carroll told the court that the Director of Public Prosecutions has consented to the matter being dealt with summarily in the District Court.

Defence solicitor Adrian MacLynn requested that the case be adjourned to February 2 to be dealt with alongside other matters.

Judge Mary Fahy further remanded Hickey on continuing bail to appear again at Galway District Court on that date for jurisdiction to be decided.
