NRA allocates €1.5 million for work on ‘dangerous’ road at Luimnagh

A total of €1.5 million in funds is to be allocated for improvement works on a very dangerous stretch of national secondary road on the N84.

The Galway County Council has received confirmation about the funds from the National Roads Authority for the Luimnagh Realignment scheme.

Fianna Fáil councillor Mary Hoade, who has worked with residents in this area on this issue, has welcomed the funds for the works on what she calls “a very dangerous stretch of road”.

Cllr Hoade has also called on the county council to “immediately start acquiring land and getting the work started”.

An allocation of €300,000 is including for the Headford town pavement overlay. This will allow the council to carry out the much needed work on Headford streets, following the laying of the water, gas, and sewer line through the town.

Also included in the allocation is €200,000 for Corrandulla Cross, €50,000 for Corrandrum pavement overlay, €250,000 for Largan pavement overlay, €150,000 for Shrulegrove, and €24,000 for north of Headford pavement overlay
