Síle Seoige is looking for Ireland’s most entertaining family

From The Clancy Brothers to Clannad to Crystal Swing, Irish families have been involved in musical groups or in the case of Connemara’s The Cunninghams, dance groups, over the decades.

Is it uniquely Irish or just something that happens a lot in Ireland? Either way TG4’s new talent show Feis & Blood, will over 13 episodes, set out to find a new super-star family.

Feis & Blood starts this Sunday at 7.15pm (repeated on Tuesday at 11.30pm ) and will be presented by Síle Seoige from An Spidéal. The show will see families from all over Ireland performing on stage singing, dancing, or playing music.

Each family will be facing the judges, radio producer and broadcaster Aonghus McAnally, Glas Vegas winner Sibéal Davitt, and accordion player Pádraig O Sé. The production company Adare Productions auditioned 300 families and 80 of those will take part in this series.

The first two programmes will also feature two Galway families - The Molloy sisters from Tuam featuring Breffni (17 ) on the harp and fiddle; Niamh (15 ) on concertina, and Deirbhle (12 ) on fiddle and keyboard.

The second Galway family is Michael and Rosemarie DeBúrca from Williamstown, with Rosemarie (17 ) on keyboard and vocals and Michael (20 ) on guitar and vocals.
