You don’t have to do an entire overhaul of your home and garden to get it to feel fresh again. By making a few simple changes to your home and garden you can make it feel like new again, and even add value to your home.
Add some fabric
If you are getting tired of your couches and armchairs but can’t afford to buy new ones, why not simply change the fabric on them? If that seems like too much work, change the cushions or add a throw to update the look.
Brighten up your kitchen cupboards
A simple splash of paint to kitchen cupboards can really brighten them up. The kitchen is one of the most used rooms in a home, so it can begin to look run down before the other rooms. By adding a gloss or touching up the varnish on the cupboards you can make them look like new again. Changing the doors, or even the door handles, on your cupboards is also an easy way of updating your kitchen
Brighten up your wooden floors
It is amazing how dirty and scratched wooden floors can get. As they are usually found in rooms that have a lot of traffic, such as the dinning room and sitting room, they can get scuffed very easily. Get someone in to sand them down, treat them, and revarnish. You will be amazed at how fresh and new they will look again. Be warned though — you might have to avoid walking on the newly varnished floors for at least 24 hours, so plan ahead.
Picture perfect
We all have stacks of pictures of our family and friends hidden away somewhere. Get them out, frame them, and put them up around your home. It is amazing what a difference a few pictures can make to a room.
Get storing
Houses are prone to clutter and it can be a daunting task to tidy things up. Invest in some pretty decorative storage boxes that will hide away all your CDs, DVDs, and bits and bobs that don’t really seem like they have anywhere to go.
Candlelight
Everyone loves candlelight, it adds a warm atmosphere to even the coldest of rooms. Scatter candles around your house, making sure they are out of reach of little hands, and light them up when night falls. There is an endless array of scented candles available to add an extra cosy feel to your rooms.
