Enjoy the magic of the viola

A BRITISH viola player, a Latvian cellist, and an Israeli pianist will join forces for Music For Galway’s Viola Magic concert in the Aula Maxima, NUI Galway, on Thursday November 6 at 8pm.

Performing on the night will be Maxim Rysanov (viola ), the 2008 Classic FM Gramophone Young Artist Of The Year. The charismatic performer is also being considered for the title role of Vivaldi in a planned Hollywood film of the great composer.

Joining him will be Katya Apekisheva (piano ), who has won the American-Israel Cultural Foundation Award; and Kristine Blaumane (cello ), who has twice become a laureate of Great Music Award, the highest prize given by the Latvian State in the field of music.

For Viola Magic the trio will perform Brahms’ Viola Sonata in F minor, Op 120, Bach’s Suite No 5, Britten’s Lachrymae, and Brahms’ Trio in A Minor, Op 114.
