NUI Galway and Stagecoach Theatre Arts schools will be working together on a new interactive and educational TV website to go live next year.
Stagecoach, which has schools in Ennis and Galway, training children and teenagers in professional classes for dance, drama, and singing, will work alongside NUIG academics on www.stagecoach.tv The new web portal, currently under construction, will be aimed at children and teenagers to improve their ability and understanding of maths as a subject. It will be available to schools and colleges as a learning tool to complement the current curriculum, but with a fun, educational theme using actors aged 11 to 16.
“We have enjoyed a close relationship with the university over the last four years and the new project cements this creative partnership,” said Stagecoach principal John Lucey. “This will be a mutually beneficial link because it will give our students more time in front of camera, but also give NUIG a quality product with children who are used to learning lines, taking direction, hitting their marks and giving measurable results
