Galwegians are being encouraged to join Ronan Scully, Galway's representative in this year’s Operation Transformation programme for a ‘Walk on the Prom’ this weekend.
The Galway City Sports Partnership, along with the Irish Sports Council and other local sports partnerships, has linked up with RTÉ’s Operation Transformation to deliver the message of physical activity to the country.
As part of that message, Ronan, well known for his tireless work with GOAL, and the author of Hold That Thought - 52 Thoughtful Reflections For Your Year, will be doing the ‘Walk on the Prom’ event.
The walk will start at 12 noon this Saturday, directly across from the Salthill Hotel. Irish Heart Foundation walking ;eaders Bernie Ronan and Sinead Stynes will lead the 4.1km journey to Blackrock, back to Seapoint, and returning to the Salthill Hotel.
RTÉ cameras are visiting a number of the walks around the country and Galway may be one of the sites visited. Participants are encouraged to wear clothing suitable for walking and the weather conditions.
Refreshments, arranged by Ocean Fitness, will be served in the Salthill Hotel afterwards.
