The controversial four year National Recovery plan and the details of IMF/EU bailout will be discussed at a public meeting in Galway next week.
Fianna Fáil Galway West TD Frank Fahey is hosting the meeting which will take place in the Clayton Hotel next Monday at 8pm. The meeting will also include a presentation from Dr Alan Ahearne, the economic advisor to Minister for Finance Brian Lenihan.
Dep Fahey is promising “an honest and up-front discussion on what went wrong to cause the down-turn”. He will address the mistakes that have been made and will explain the actions the Government has taken to deal with the crisis.
Dr Ahearne will outline and explain the four-year National Recovery plan and the agreement with the IMF and the EU. He will also make predictions on how the economy will recover into the future.
The meeting is the first in a number of public meetings Dep Fahey intends to hold across Galway West in the coming weeks and months in order to hear people’s views.
“I understand the anger and concern about our economic situation and I want to stand up and address this,” he said. “I look forward to engaging in an open and honest discussion on the challenges we face.”
