Seminar for SMEs on how to survive in tough economic times

Many businesses in the west of Ireland are tightening their belts and are looking at ways to steer their business through the tough times ahead.

To help small and medium-sized businesses to address challenging times a networking event entitled Surviving or Thriving in Tough Economic Times is to be run in Castlebar. Speakers from KPMG and a Mayo-based accountancy company will give their commentary and advice on tax issues in a downturn, the credit crisis, banking difficulties, market volatility and other issues important to SMEs in County Mayo. The evening will appeal to individuals looking for guidance for their business in tough times.

The networking event is being organised by Learning West Skillnets, a not-for-profit network of over 100 companies in Mayo. The event will provide SMEs in Mayo with an opportunity to meet and network with other businesses in the region. The evening will end with a question and answer session with questions from the audience.

The speakers and panellists include Terri Treacy, associate director, KPMG Galway and George Gannon, George Gannon and Co Accountants and Tax Consultants, Castlebar. The evening will be of interest to CEOs, CFOs, owner/managers of established and new businesses, local professional advisors and all those interested in how current economic conditions are affecting SMEs in the Mayo region.
