Christmas sees spate of burglaries in Galway

Gardaí are investigating several burglaries which have occurred in Galway over the holiday period, including a break-in at an Athenry business on Christmas Day.

The premises in Athenry was burgled at around 1.30am on Christmas Day. A large amount of clothing, including jumpers, skirts, and jackets, was stolen from the business.

A house on Monument Road, Menlo, was broken into on the evening of Wednesday December 29. Thieves entered the home through an upstairs patio door and stole a Playstation 3, an iPod, a laptop computer, and a large quantity of jewellery. This burglary occurred between 7pm and 9pm.

On the same day a house in Riverdale, Oranmore, was raided between 6pm and 2am. The culprits entered through a sitting room window and made off with a substantial sum of cash.

In the early hours of Friday December 31 a premises in Quay Street, Galway, was burgled and a large sum of money was stolen.

A home in Hawthorn Place, Clybaun Road, was broken into on New Year’s Day. In this incident the thieves entered through a downstairs bathroom window and a large amount of jewellery was taken.
