The great Peter Ustinov once said: “I was irrevocably betrothed to laughter, the sound of which has always seemed to me to be the most civilised music in the world.”
So if you wish to get 2011 off to a civilised start and to stay in healthy and high good humour, then make sure you take your weekly dose of laughs at The Laughter Lounge in the Róisín Dubh.
The Laughter Lounge takes place each Wednesday with the doors opening at 8.30pm. Confirmed shows for the New Year are David McSavage (January 19 ); Abandoman (January 26 ); Jack Whitehall (February 2 ); Steve Hughes (February 9 ); Jarlath Regan (February 16 ); and Sarah Millican, with her show Chatterbox (April 3 ).
A number of shows will be taking place on a Saturday. Maeve Higgins will present her new show Ready For This? on Saturday February 19.
Dead Cat Bounce will be recording a live album at the Róisín and will do it over two shows on Saturday January 22. The first show is at 8.30pm and the second is at 10.30pm. So if you would like your laughter to be featured on their record, get yourself along to either of the shows.
The brilliant Jason Byrne will play a ‘Laughter Lounge presents...’ show at the Town Hall Theatre on Thursday January 27 at 8pm.
