IF YOU have been itching to put pen to paper and compose some verse, but are unsure about how to go about it, then check out the new classes at the Galway Arts Centre.
The centre will host three poetry workshops, facilitated by Kevin Higgins, the author of three collections of poetry - The Boy With No Face, Time Gentlemen, Please, and Frightening New Furniture.
Each workshop will run for 10 weeks. Classes will be held on Tuesdays from 7pm to 8.30pm, starting on January 18; on Thursdays from 2pm to 4pm, starting on January 20; and Fridays from 2pm to 3.30pm, starting on January 21.
The Tuesday and Friday workshops are open to complete beginners as well as those who have been writing for some time. The Thursday afternoon workshop is an Advanced Poetry Workshop, suitable for those who have participated in poetry workshops before or had poems published in magazines.
Kevin is an experienced workshop facilitator and several of his students have gone on to achieve publication success.
