NUI Galway has received conditional approval from Galway City Council to build an extension to the Arts Millennium Building.
The planning application, which was lodged by NUI Galway in August of this year, was given permission last week by the council, with 12 conditions attached.
The development on the NUI Galway campus will comprise the construction of an extension to the rear (north ) of the Arts Millennium Building at the existing car parking area and will vary in height from one to three storeys.
The works also include the provision of an additional floor of accommodation over an existing two storey element at the side (east ) of the Arts Millennium Building. The new extension will also provide additional teaching and research areas, administration offices, and ancillary facilities.
