Panto fun with Renmore’s Sleeping Beauty

THE MUCH loved fairytale Sleeping Beauty will be brought to the Galway stage by the Renmore pantomime, starting tonight and running until Sunday January 16.

Sleeping Beauty, runs for 12 evening performances and 10 matinees at the Town Hall Theatrey. Evening performances take place at 7.30pm while matinees take today and January 1, 2, 3, 8, and 15 at 2.30pm and on Sunday January 9 and Sunday 16 at 12 noon and 4pm.

Princess Beauty (Edel Fahy ) defies Wickety Witch’s curse on her 18th birthday by visiting Electric Picnic. There she meets pop star Flash Freddy (Aidan Corrigan ) and they fall in love.

The King and Queen (Karl O’Doherty and Hannah McCreanor ) also go to Electric Picnic disguised as hippies. Meanwhile, Dopey Danny (Declan Gardiner ) tries to impress Beauty’s friend Curly Sue (Mariah Butler ), and Nanny Nellie (Peter Kennedy ) takes a shine to ageing rocker Bobby Dylan (Paul Hughes ).

Wickety Witch (Orla O’Brien ), masquerading as Rockette Star, lures Beauty to a scary tower where she pricks her finger on the infamous spinning wheel. However, the 100 years sleeping spell is broken when Fairy Fumble (John McHugh ) weaves her magic. The Prince of Pop turns out to have royal blood. He awakens the princess with a kiss and all live happily ever after.
