New science facilities opened at St Cuan’s College, Castleblakeney

Two new science laboratories which opened this week at St Cuan’s College, Castleblakeney, have been hailed as “a major boost to the whole community,” by Fianna Fáil Galway East TD Michael Kitt.

The two state-of-the-art labs, which cost approximately €646,000 to build and equip, were officially opened by the Tánaiste and Minister for Education Mary Coughlan.

“This is a fantastic moment for the staff and students at St Cuan’s, who have worked hard to ensure that they have the best facilities available for science students,” said Dep Kitt. “St Cuan’s College will be an example to other schools of how to create a top class learning environment for science students.”

Dep Kitt added that pupils “will be able to get the best out of hands-on investigative work” in the new labs as such an approach is “at the centre of our new Leaving and Junior Certificate science courses”.
