The late, great, Mick Lally, will be remembered on TG4 next week with the broadcast of Cairdeas, the final television work in which he starred.

This short drama, directed by Kevin Glynn and Rónán Ó Conghaile, was written with Mick Lally in mind. It deals with two friends - Mick Lally and Eamonn Draper - easy in each others company who meet every day to play chess in their local pub. Cairdeas also features Joe Greaney as the barman and John O’Dowd as the priest. See it on Wednesday December 22 at 10.20pm.

On the same night, but at 9.50pm, TG4 will repeat Imeall – Mick Lally, a documentary about the actor’s life and work. Those interviewed about Mick include his mother May, Druid’s Garry Hynes, and fellow actor Mary McEvoy.

On Wednesday, country music fans can also look forward to talent show Glór Tíre at 10.30pm while Boston will look at the lives of the Irish and Irish-Americans in the city.
