FRANKIE GAVIN & De Dannan will play Campbell’s Tavern, Cloughanover, Headford as part of their Up Close & Personal Tour across Ireland this month.
The 32 county tour will see the Frankie and Co perform in a variety of intimate settings in order to “lift the hearts of the Irish people during this extraordinary economic climate in Ireland”.
“This is an initiative which we are very much looking forward to,” says Frankie, “We live in a country besieged with economic gloom and as a result of the way this has affected the Irish psyche we have decided to stage the concerts in many places which are ‘off the beaten track’ and most we have never performed in before.
“It is about bringing the music to the people instead of the people to the music and we hope for at least one night in each county IMF will stand for Irish Music Funfair!”
The current De Dannan ensemble is led by Frankie (fiddle, flutes, whistles ), Damien Mullane (accordion ), Eric Cunningham (percussion, flutes, whistles ), Mike Galvin (bouzouki, guitars ), Michelle Lally (vocals ).
Other concerts taking place at Campbell’s include Home For Christmas with Matt Cunningham and special guest Sean Keane, in aid of Ability West, on Friday December 17 at 9pm; The Lounge Lizards Christmas Party, in aid of the Galway Simon Community, on Sunday 19 at 9pm; the Headford Youth Big Band on Thursday 23 at 10pm; and the venue’s New Years Eve Party with Noelie McDonnell and friends, from 9pm.
