THE FOLLOWERS of Otis and A Band Called Wanda will play a double-headline show in the Róisín Dubh on Monday to raise funds for the Galway Simon Community.
The Followers Of Otis’ style of music can go from gentle and melodic Beatle-esque numbers to rough and stomping folk-blues while A Band Called Wanda describe themselves as ‘folk’n’roll’.
The Galway Simon Community provides care, accommodation and supportive services to people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. It currently provides accommodation to more than 100 people throughout Galway city.
“We thought it would be a great cause to fundraise for,” says The Followers of Otis’ Adam, “especially at this time of year. It’s hardest on the less fortunate, so we approached Simon and they were delighted to have us on board.”
Del Boy of A Band Called Wanda said: “It will be a great show, especially that it’s Galway bands raising money for a really important Galway charity.”
Both bands have been making a name for themselves recently around the country and further afield, with the Followers Of Otis having played the Castlepalooza festival, and A Band Called Wanda having been asked by Alabama 3 to support them at the Jamm night club in Brixton, London.
Doors are at 9pm and tickets are €5.
