The Moongate Performance Academy under the tutelage of Cherie Worthington-Eyre will offer a new and exciting perspective on theatre performance skills. This new school is the accumulation of many years experience and will bring together extensive knowledge from disciplines such as dance, acrobatics, aerial dance, drama, singing and mime into one venue.
Ms Worthington-Eyre is the artistic director and founder of Moongate Dance Theatre and is currently completing a master’s degree in dance at Limerick University. Her research is based on the link between higher order thinking and creative dance practice and the findings from this research forms the ethos for Moongate Performance Academy.
She has more than 20 years experience as a director/ choreographer and is registered as a professional member of Dance Ireland. Her new theatre company Moongate dance Theatre received funding from the Galway County Council. She has worked extensively for government bodies, corporate and private projects, community groups and schools and was the choreographer for the Renmore Pantomime from 2004—2009.
Classes will commence on Saturday January 15 in the Renmore Community Centre and will offer the opportunity to experience and develop many exciting performance skills All tutors are qualified and working and performing in their specialised fields.
Enrolment age startisfrom three years. The dance programme includes;hip/ hop, street jazz, creative dance. workshops in choreography for performance
Children/students will also have workshops in body conditioning, acrobatics, aerial dance skills, singing / musical appreciation, mime, drama skills, and circus skills.
Adult classes will commence on Tuesday January 18 from 8pm.
