Every Heart Beats True for Jim Stynes

Last Tuesday night I watched the moving and emotional documentary Every Heart Beats True about former AFL star Jim Stynes.

It is the entrancing and riveting story of how one of Ireland’s greatest sportsmen has undergone a series of operations in recent times in his battle with cancer, and the steps he has taken in an effort to stay alive.

It was impossible not to have tears in your eyes and to be moved by the inspirational way in which the Dublin man has been dealing with a rare form of cancer.

Stynes moved to Australia as a young man and went on to become a genuine legend in AFL.

He won the Brownlow medal, which is the supreme individual award in the sport, and holds the record for the most consecutive games in the gruelling sport with his club Melbourne.

He is considered an all-time great in that sport and he is revered and much loved as an inspirational human being and tremendous role model in Australia. After viewing the documentary you will see why. If you have not seen it, make the effort . It can be viewed on RTE real player. It will move you.
