Get your water woes sorted with Grant Water

Water hardness, protection of household appliances, rainwater harvesting, or simply having a drink of nice tasting water, these are just some of the main concerns for Galway households and businesses, but Grant Water has the high quality and professional services which will have your water flowing in tip top shape.

Founder and managing director of Grant Water, Jamie Grant, has over the last 15 years worked in many projects in the fields of water, energy, and heating. Having trained as a marine mechanical engineer in the merchant navy, he gained invaluable experience in mechanics, hydraulics, and electrical control systems. Originally from Scotland, Mr Grant moved to Ireland 10 years ago and starting working in the rain water treatment industry before setting up Grant Water four years ago. Since then the business has gone from strength to strength, carrying out extensive work on both domestic and commercial water systems as well as building up a long list of clients, including recently U2 frontman Bono.

Based in Sligo, Grant Water has many representatives, including Jamie himself, working throughout county Galway and city and they have been extremely busy with the most popular services proving to be the improvements on the quality of household drinking water and rainwater harvesting.

“Galway is one of the areas which has always had a water issue, especially since the cryptosporidium crisis. A couple of companies took advantage, overpricing their services, and gave the industry a bad name and stung a lot of people in Galway. My services are value for money in that the equipment I use is of high quality, the products are usually sourced from the US and Italy and are built to last. I have big faith in my products and I am very confident in the work that I do, so much so that I do a 10 year warrantee. I make sure that all of Grant Water’s representatives are trained to a high standard and they have built a reputation for establishing good customer relations,” said Mr Grant.

Grant Water has been kept very busy recently installing water supplies which will improve the quality of water in areas such as Connemara where the water tends to be boggy and discoloured. In Galway city the major problem is hard water from the mains supply. Mr Grant said that just by putting in an softener will reduce the limescale in the water also giving appliances a longer lifespan. He added that putting in a filter will reduce the chlorine, giving the water from the tap a much nicer taste.

Rainwater harvesting has become a lot more popular in recent years, especially when it comes to new builds. The system is simple to install and gives the house owner naturally soft water. Mr Grant said that commercially services such as these has proven to be particularly advantageous for businesses which pay high rates for their water supply.

“Businesses in Ireland are currently paying €2.70 per 1,000 litres of water, that means that hotels for example can be paying between €60 to €100 per day. In Germany it is €8.60 per 1,000 litres of water. If Ireland went up to match it could put a lot out of business. It is what is going to happen in the future, if what is happening in Europe filters down to Ireland. This is why a lot of businesses are now turning to rainwater harvesting and other water conservation methods,” said Mr Grant.
