The return of the Irish Pink Floyd

THE FLAMING Lips acknowleged their debt to Pink Floyd last year when the Lips recorded their own version of Dark Side Of The Moon.

Radiohead will never admit it, but they are the heirs to Pink Floyd’s legacy as OK Computer was The Wall for the 1990s.

Floyd’s music - vast, epic, melancholy, at times melodic, other times very avant garde, has exerted an inestimable influence on modern rock, even reaching into dance and techno (The Orb, Aphex Twin ).

Given that the original Floyd are unlikely to ever tour again, The Irish Pink Floyd will ensure that Irish Floyd fans are given the chance to hear the music they love live.

The Irish Pink Floyd return to Galway to play the Róisín Dubh this Sunday at 9pm and an aural and visual treat is in store.

Featuring a line up two guitarists, vocalists, saxophone player, drummer, and keyboardist, the band also recreate the visual Floyd experience through screening of surreal films to accompany the songs as well as special lighting effects.

Casual Floyd fans will enjoy hearing ‘Another Brick In The Wall Pt 2’ and ‘Money’, while die-hard fans can look forward to songs like ‘Dogs’. The Irish Pink Floyd have sometimes performed Dark Side Of The Moon in its entirety, and they do a fine tribute to Syd Barrett.

Tickets are available from the Róisín Dubh and Zhivago.
