Park and ride services starts on Saturday

The Galway City Council’s Christmas park and ride service begins this Saturday at 7am, and it will be operated by Bus Éireann.

The service will provide 15-minute frequency buses from Galway Racecourse to the Fairgreen Coach Park, close to the Christmas Market and the city centre. The cost of the park and ride service is €2 return for all day parking and return bus fare (regardless of number of passengers ).

The public can also avail of promotional Iarnród Éireann fares with the price of an adult day return from Athenry to Galway city, reduced from €11 to €6.

Bus Éireann is offering €10 day return fares to Galway city centre from Tuam, Gort, Oughterard, Loughrea, Mountbellew, and An Cheathrú Rua.

The city council’s Galway Transportation Unit is encouraging schoolchildren, teachers, and parents to support the An Taisce Green Schools Travel Programme initiatives by walking, park and striding, cycling, car-pooling, or taking the bus en route to school in the city
