Entrepreneurs, film makers, academics, and designers will be speaking about what inspires them and delivering encouragement to audiences at the Ignite Galway event next week.
Ignite Galway is aimed at anyone who wishes to start his/her own business or who simply wants to be inspired by people who have been able to achieve things for themselves in the worlds of business, the arts, or technology.
The talks take place in the 091labs, beside the Radisson Blu Hotel, at 7pm on Friday December 10. Speakers have to get their idea across in five minutes with the help of 20 slides. There will also be art installations, performances, and live music.
Among the speakers will be former Co Galway GAA footballer and now filmmaker Pat Comer; designer Emma Creighton who will talk about social games; entrepreneur Jack Kinsella who has launched a new magazine in Bolivia; Micah Herstand will explore the environmental impacts of technology; NUI, Galway philosopher Ed O’Toole will speak about myth and war in the western tradition.
Ignite Galway is a fundraising event for 091 Labs, an open space designed for people to co-create and collaborate on a range of personal and group projects. The money raised will go towards the upkeep of the space so that the peer learning workshops and creative endeavours open to the community can continue throughout the winter.
Admission is €5. For more information see www.091labs.com/ignite-galway/ or email [email protected]
