Shop Street is the heart of the city centre in Galway and the Galway City Museum will host a public lecture on its history next week.
The popular Galway historian Peadar Ó Dowd will examine the changing face of Shop Street in the museum next Monday at 7pm. His talk will look at its mediaeval structures and remains, its indigenous businesses such as Griffin's Bakery, Powell’s Four Corners, and Anthony Ryan’s, its pedestrianisation in the mid 1990s, and the many characters who frequented the street.
Admission to the talk is free and there will be Q&A afterwards. For more information contact 091 - 532460
