Comic books and a charity single from The Saw Doctors

The Saw Doctors have re-recorded their classic ode to first love, ‘Red Cortina’, and will be releasing it on iTunes tomorrow as a charity single for the St Vincent de Paul.

‘Red Cortina’ first appeared on the band’s 1992 debut album If This Is Rock’n’Roll I Want My Old Job Back, but it has been re-recorded as an a cappella version for this charity single. Smyths Toys has also come on board the fundraising drive and will be donating €1 to the St Vincent de Paul for every download of ‘Red Cortina’ between tomorrow and Friday December 10.

‘Red Cortina’ is available from iTunes for 99c. The cover art for the single is based on the Ford Cortina owned by Leo Moran’s father Jimmy Moran in the 1970s.

Also while you are listing to the new Saw Doctors single, you call enjoy a copy of the special, limited edition, Saw Doctors comic.

The comic is based on the late 1970s/early 1980s era Beano and Dandy comics and features comic strip adventures of the band and numerous other Tuam characters, was well as old adverts relating to the era in which the comic is set. The comic is available from Zhivago Shop Street and Zhivago in the Galway Shopping Centre for €1.
