Tomorrow (Friday November 26 ) is the closing date for the inaugural Supermac’s Bright Spark Awards 2011.
The competition, open to all secondary schools, is to find the best business ideas from the country’s students.
Taking place throughout the province of Connacht, the competition is open to all senior students including transition year, fourth year and Leaving Certificate students. The top three students in the Galway County final will be put through to the Supermac’s Bright Spark Awards Connacht final event.
The competition requires an overview of a new business idea from a student or group of students. The headings under which students are required to work for the competition are especially relevant to the current LCVP curriculum. Students do not need to have put their ideas into practice.
Entry forms, available on www.Supermacs.ie, need to be received by tomorrow, while the business plan is due by post before Tuesday February 1, 2011.
Supermac’s managing director and member of the main judging panel, Pat McDonagh, says some fantastic ideas have been received already.
“It’s both encouraging and refreshing to see the great ideas young people have along with new ways of thinking about business. We decided to set up the Supermac’s Bright Spark Awards to help young people realise there are many opportunities out there. A good idea with a proper plan, hard work, and support can bring a person a long way.”
The overall winner in the Connacht Province will win €1,000 with cash prizes also available for second and third place winners. Prizes for winners from each county range from €250 for first prize winners with cash prizes for second and third place. There are also prizes of gift vouchers for teachers of each competition winner on both a county and Connacht level.
