Conor Biggs to sing Schubert in NUIG

FRANZ SCHUBERT’S song cycle Die Schöne Müllerin will be performed in Galway next week by the acclaimed Irish bass singer Conor Biggs.

Conor will be joined by Andrew Wise (piano ) and Vincent O’Connell (reader ) for the concert in the Aula Maxima, NUI, Galway, next Wednesday at 8pm.

He is well known throughout Europe for his interpretations and recordings of German and Russian songs. He has lived in Belgium for nearly 20 years, sings in the Flemish Radio Choir and in the Gregorian group Psallentesand.

Conor also has strong Galway connections. A member of the Dooley clan, he is a nephew of the late Christie Dooley who was well-known for his musical appearances at Busker Brownes.

The Irish Times has praised Conor’s “uncanny ability to empathise with the works he performs”, as well as his “flawless memory [and] unusual knack of getting straight to the point”.

Tickets are €12/6 at the door.
