GMIT careers fair next week

More than 80 national and international employers have signed up for the GMIT recruitment and careers fair 2008, which will take place in the GMIT Dublin Road campus on Thursday October 30.

The event is a major opportunity for students and graduates to meet employers in engineering, science, business, information technology, hotel and catering, and creative arts and humanities, and hear about career trends, current job vacancies, and opportunities in Ireland and abroad.

The event is organised by the GMIT careers service and is a highlight of the student calendar.

“We are absolutely delighted with the response rate from employers to the graduate recruitment fair,” said GMIT careers officer Bridie Killoran. “So many of the companies come back each year because they are impressed with the calibre of graduates from our institute.

“Our graduates have developed key skills that employers are seeking and these are now going to be so crucial in the challenging times ahead. GMIT careers service has a firm interest and commitment to working with employers. We advertise job vacancies to our students and graduates and keep them up to date with developments in the jobs market.

“We extend the invitation to all recent and past graduates as employers are always interested in connecting with people who have the necessary skills and talent.”

The GMIT recruitment and careers fair will run from 12 noon to 3pm on Thursday October 30 in the reception area (new foyer ) of the IT Learning Resource Centre at the Dublin Road campus.
