Sweeney Oil goes Top Green

TOP Sweeney Oil recently launched its newly rebranded TOP oil distribution business in Galway.

Sweeney Oil was established over 20 years ago to provide the local community with competitively priced home heating oil. In August 2009, Sweeney Oil became part of the Tedcastles Group of companies, which owns and operates the well-known Irish fuel distribution brand, TOP Oil. The Sweeney Oil business has now been rebranded under the TOP brand and carries the TOP green colours.

Commenting on the launch of TOP Sweeney Oil, Fergal Fahy, operations and logistics manager at TOP Sweeney Oil,said he would like to thank the loyal customers for their ongoing support and custom throughout the years.

“The same local staff will continue to provide the same service and attention our customers have come to expect.”

Hi-Way Oil, O’Grady Oil and Mitchell Oil, three local family distribution businesses joined the TOP Sweeney Oil team in 2008 to become part of a larger distribution network while still maintaining their local roots. The family tradition established back in the ‘70s and’ 80s continues today, through Marion Cunniffe and Pauline Mitchell who play key roles within the business. TOP also operates the local TOP Oil Galway and Sruth Ola Teo located in Carraroe.

Lisa Lillis, sales manager for TOP Sweeney Oil said, “TOP Sweeney Oil is now embarking on a very exciting point in the company’s history. We have been operating from our depots in Galway, Clifden, Tuam and Tynagh for over 20 years and we look forward to serving our customers into the future.”

TOP is a successful Irish company, employing over 300 people all over Ireland. It began as a family-run business and is now an established and trusted Irish, home grown brand. Over the last six years, the company has invested over €30m in its business, comprising an upgrade of its oil terminal, tank farms, truck fleet and depot network. The company now has the most modern oil terminal and oil distribution fleet in Ireland.
