Dublin’s Caruso plays the Roisin Dubh

HotPress compared their music to U2. News of the World called their debut album “beautiful and atmospheric”. The rest of their fan base, who have helped to make them one of the country’s most formidable live bands, calls them just plain amazing. Dublin-based band Caruso comes to the Roisin Dubh this Sunday in a not-to-be-missed gig.

Describing themselves as “alternative folk mixed with indie rock and roll”, Caruso’s simple, emotionally charged music bounces back and forth from heartfelt tenderness to hardcore rocking without so much as a glitch, delivering some of the most eclectic mix of music on the scene today.

Currently on their European tour, Caruso’s stop in Galway comes amongst dates in France, Italy, and Germany, before they make their way across the globe to begin their New Zealand tour early next year.

Support on the night comes from Antrim’s up and coming musical talent Ben Glover. His debut album The Week The Clocks Changed, which was recorded in Nashville under the direction of producer JD Foster, includes 22-time Grammy Award winner Vince Gill, John Deaderick (The Dixie Chicks, James Taylor ), Willie Nelson’s longtime harmonica player Mickey Raphael, pedal-steel guitar legend Al Perkins (The Rolling Stones, Neil Young ), Buddy Miller and Grammy Award winner Jim Lauderdale. Impressive to say the least, is should come as no big surprise that he, and his touring band The Earls, has been named the next big thing to come out of Northern Ireland.

Caruso and Ben Glover play the Roisin Dubh this Sunday. Doors at 9pm. Tickets are available from the Róisín Dubh, Zhivago, and Redlight Records.
