Farewell to Casiotone For The Painfully Alone

CASIOTONE FOR The Painfully Alone, the brilliant solo electronic pop/singer-songwriter project of Owen Ashworth, play upstairs at the Róisín Dubh this Sunday at 9pm.

This will be Casiotone For The Painfully Alone’s farewell tour. The news came as a surprise to many, especially after the release of the vs. Children album last year, which was one of Ashworth’s strongest ever collections. However the good news is that Ashworth is not quitting music.

“I’ve decided to end Casiotone For The Painfully Alone,” he said. “I’d just like to clarify that this doesn’t mean I’m quitting music. I love writing and recording songs, and I hope to make lots more records in my lifetime but, after nearly 13 years of being the dude from Casiotone For The Painfully Alone, I’m ready for a fresh start and a new challenge.

“After December 5 I’m throwing out the old songs and I’m trying something new. I’ll have more news about new projects and plans in the coming months. Between now and December 5, I’m going to try to play as many Casiotone For The Painfully Alone shows as I can.

“I’ll be repeating this sentiment a lot between now and December, but thank you so, so, much to everyone who has been so supportive of Casiotone For The Painfully Alone over the past 13 years.”

Tickets are available from the Róisín Dubh and Zhivago.
