Hit show makes its debut Galway visit

OEDIPUS LOVES You, the critically acclaimed drama and possibly the most toured production in Irish theatre history, comes to the Town Hall Theatre on November 15 and 16 at 8pm.

Written by Simon Doyle and directed by Gavin Quinn, Oedipus Loves You has been rocking international audiences at performances in 22 cities across Europe, North America, and Australia.

Oedipus Loves You takes the ancient Greek morality tale of the man who kills his father and has sex with his mother, into a dysfunctional family who try to form a rock band in order to overcome their problems.

There is the self-pitying Oedipus (Bush Moukarzel ), the suicidal Jacosta (Gina Moxley ) with a noose around her neck, moody teen Antigone (Annemarie Gaillard ), cocaine-sniffing uncle Creon (Dylan Tighe ), and glam rocking psychotherapist Tiresias (Ned Dennehy ).

The show is filled with dark humour and backed by a live punk music score by Gordon Is A Mime.

The show has enjoyed great success across the globe with Variety saying it “approaches the sublime… the songs are first-rate ear candy”; the Glasgow Herald described it as “Sophocles meets The Royle Family”; The Irish Times called it “wickedly funny and wonderfully theatrical”.

Tickets are available from the Town Hall on 091 - 569777 and www.tht.ie
