The Galway Islamic Cultural Centre will hold its first Annual Convention 2010 in the Live Lounge of the Radisson Blu Hotel on Friday November 5 from 4pm.
The Galway Islamic Cultural Centre represents the majority of the city’s Muslim community, mostly Sunni Muslims.
The programme will begin at 4pm with a tea and coffee reception, followed at 4.30pm with a recitation from Holy Qur’an by Sheikh Khalid Sallabi, Imam of the community.
The welcome address will be given by Dr Abubakre Shadad. This will be followed by a talk on the history of the community, entitled Muslims & Islam in Galway - Past, Present and Future.
At 7.15pm, Sarah Murniati and Ali Naqvi will give a talk entitled Life of A Muslim Student in Galway. This will be followed by an address from the Irish Cancer Society on helping family and friends suffering from cancer. The event will conclude with a dinner at 8pm.
