Bat enthusiasts will be pleased to know that on Saturday August 16, there will be an illustrated talk on bats held in Coole Park and Wildlife reserve, Co Galway. The talk commences at 8.30pm and will be followed shortly afterwards by a bat detecting walk throughout the grounds of Coole.
Discover more information about bats in Ireland and especially those found in this nature reserve, just three kilometres from the heritage town of Gort. This event is organised by NPWS and the Galway Bat Group, who strive to shed light on these nocturnal creatures. More than one third of all Irish mammal species are bats, and they are some of the most widespread and easy to find, if you know where to look.
Following Saturday’s activity, there will be a tree walk on Sunday August 17 at 3pm, where visitors are invited to learn about the history of Coole through its trees both native and exotic.
