Swap Til you drop at recession-friendly Ability West fundraiser

Galway based charity Ability West – Éirim an Iarthair will hold a fundraising fashion event, Swap Til U Drop, on Wednesday November 3 in the Menlo Park Hotel, Galway, from 6.30pm.

Ability West provides services and supports to 460 children and adults with an intellectual disability throughout Galway city and county.

Swap Til U Drop was officially launched by Marc Roberts live on his Midday Breakaway show on Galway Bay FM live from the Menlo Park Hotel last week along with Maire Eilis Ní Fhlaithearta, star of Ros na Rún, and Irish under 17 soccer team captain Dora Gorman.

Swap Til U Drop is a chance to have a girls’ night out that won’t break the bank. Whether you are looking for a Christmas party dress, a new capsule wardrobe, or a much loved label, Swap Til U Drop has something for everyone. The event includes a fashion swap, displays of winter fashion collections by local boutiques, top tips by beautician Shelley Murphy of Shelley’s Beauty Salon, and fashion stylist Delilah Bouakkaz, and great entertainment from MC Ollie Turner of Galway Bay FM.

Ability West is asking people to donate new or nearly new fashions — ladies’ clothing, shoes, handbags, hats, and jewellery — before November 3. Items will then be swapped on a token basis at the event. Donations can be dropped in to Ability West headquarters at Blackrock House, Salthill (091 540900 ), or Snipe Industries, Liosban Industrial Estate. Further information on these and other county drop-off points and collection services can be found on www.abilitywest.ie

Tickets for Swap Til U Drop cost €20 and are available in advance from Ability West, the Menlo Park Hotel, other venues, and on the door. Each ticket entitles you to free tokens to be used towards the fashion swap, entry into a prize draw that includes celebrity-donated prizes, free fashion and beauty advice, and a wine and cheese reception. Arrive early to avoid disappointment.
