Learn more about breast cancer at Tuam information evening next week

An information evening on breast awareness, early detection and recent advances in breast cancer management will take place on Tuesday October 19 from 7.30pm to 9pm at the Ard Rí House Hotel, Milltown Road, Tuam.

The event will be presented by Professor Michael Kerin, consultant surgeon and Mary Grealish, breast care nurse at University Hospital Galway and is being hosted by Tuam Cancer Care to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Professor Kerin will discuss recent advances in breast cancer management, including, early diagnosis, access to more day case surgery and reconstruction, new classification of breast cancer and individualisation of systemic treatment.

He will also comment on the impact of the National Cancer Control Plan and centres of excellence.
