Craughwell man admits robbery charges

A 25-year-old Craughwell man pleaded guilty this week to robbing three people of their cash in a city centre street.

John Delaney with an address at 3 Dunkillin Park, Craughwell, Co Galway, appeared before Galway Circuit Criminal Court on Tuesday for arraignment on three counts of robbery, contrary to Section 14(1 ) of the Criminal Justrice (theft and fraud ) Act.

When the charges were put to him Delaney pleaded guilty to robbing two men of €5 and €20 cash, and one woman of €8 cash, at Augustine Street on September 12, 2009.

Defence barrister Aisling Wall then asked for the case to be put back for sentencing. She added that Delaney was in custody in relation to another matter and that no application for bail will be made at this time.

Judge Raymond Groarke remanded Delaney in custody to appear at Galway Circuit Court again on December 14 next.
