Meeting to map a future for the arts in Galway

Adapt Galway will hold a public meeting tonight on developing a major exhibition space for Galway city and a new centre for a number of arts groups.

The meeting, entitled AdapTatIoN, takes place in Nimmo’s from 11pm to 2.30am. Adapt Galway is a coalition of visual arts organisations working to create a vision for the visual arts in the city and county.

Adapt is seeking to use appropriate vacant spaces in the city centre for creative purposes; develop Féach, a temporary centre for contemporary art in the docklands over the next two years, with the aim of creating a permanent centre in the same area; and ‘re-purposing’ the Connaught Laundry as a working arts facility to house Lorg, Groundworks, a sculpture centre, residential studios, meeting rooms, offices, exhibition space, and more.

All these items will be discussed at the meeting. There will also be music, drinks, dancing, and fun. Admission is €7/5 and proceeds will go towards helping realise Adapt’s aims
