Supporters’ club issues appeal

Galway United Supporters’ Club is calling on all Galwegians to support United in Satuday’s crunch tie with UCD.

The club says it is not only vital to fill the ground from a “financial perspective, but also a sporting one” with the battle to avoid the relegation play-off between Galway and UCD.

The supporters’ club says United is in a “very precaurious position” both on and off the pitch.

“We have had only two home games since August so cash flow is in serious state. Next Saturday, in what is our second last home game of the season, it is vital we get a large attendance.

“Two seasons ago a Galway crowd of 700 made the trip to Dublin on the final day of the season to see us secure our top-flight survival against the same opposition. We need to double that figure for this game.”

The supporters’ club is hosting a special fundraising Race Night in Monroes Tavern, Dominick Street after the game.

Anyone interested in sponsoring a horse (€20 ) is asked to contact the Galway United office 091-767336, or Ronan Coleman 087-6972823.
