FOLLOWING SUBMISSIONS from all corners of the country, the Galway Theatre Festival reading panel has just announced its shortlist for Stage Write, the festival’s rehearsed reading series.
The chosen scripts are Everblue Falls by Del Lennon; The Cowboys by Peter Trant; Christian O’Reilly’s Jokes Are Meant To Be Funny and Man Fights Woman; Hooked! by Gillian Grattan; Skies by Mick Mulcahy; Dev’s Army by Stuart Lee. The two scripts to make it to the final reading will be announced on Monday.
The Galway Theatre Festival runs from October 25 to 31 with Stage Write taking place on Sunday 31 in the Town Hall Studio. Tickets are €5 per reading.
Many of the full productions at this year’s festival also feature new Irish writing, such as Shane McDermott’s The Idiot Box; Aindrias De Staic’s The Mackralaytors; and the 2010 PJ O’Connor Award Winner, Tara McKevitt’s Grenades.
