AN AMBASSADOR may spoil you with Ferrero Rocher but the Galway Comedy Festival is spoiling us with two shows from the legendary Rich Hall.
Hall, the grouchy, deadpan, comic genius, whom many believe is the inspiration behind The Simpson’s Moe Syzlak, will perform a solo show at the Róisín Dubh on Friday October 22 at 7.30pm, followed by a show at the Town Hall Theatre on Saturday 23 at 8pm with Brendon Burns and Jason Byrne.
Part Cherokee, part cranky Southerner, part country singer, Rich Hall is an American comedian and writer of the highest quality. His comedy has been described by the Evening Standard as “intelligent, passionate, and angry” while his live sets are “as close as it gets to a guaranteed good show” according to Scotland On Sunday.
Hall is a master of absurdist irony. He particularly likes to lay into Americans and the American way of life at every opportunity. He is also the man behind the musician/comedy character Otis Lee Crenshaw.
He won an Emmy for his writing on The David Letterman Show while on this side of the world he is familiar to audiences from Rich Hall’s Cattle Drive (BBC4 ), Rich Hall’s Fishing Show (BBC4 ), and numerous appearances on BBC2 panel show QI.
Hall has also written two books; Otis Lee Crenshaw: I Blame Society and Things Snowball, both published by Abacus Books.
